StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Asian Pricing

According to a press release posted on Business Wire, Blizzard Entertainment’s suggested retail price for StarCraft II®: Wings of Liberty™, the much awaited sequel to the number one real-time strategy game of all time StarCraft: Brood War® to the following:

  • Indonesia: Rp700,000
  • Malaysia: RM248
  • Philippines: ₱3,500
  • Singapore: S$109
  • Thailand: ฿2,500

You may want to start saving money for the first installment of StarCraft II today. The press release is not clear about it but it is safe to assume that this is for the regular retail box only. The Collector’s Edition will be much more expensive (obviously).

Follow up:

It may look expensive especially if you compare it with the one’s listed on the EU and US stores, one has to consider the shipping costs which are usually charged onto us. Another factor is Blizzard’s local partner’s cut and the local distributor’s partner’s cut – still with me? :p

If you want, you can also buy/reserve SC2:WoL here: Regular Edition (DVD-ROM) (PC CD-ROM) which as of this writing is priced at US$64.90 or get the Collector’s Edition (DVD-ROM) (PC CD-ROM) priced as of this writing at US$109.90. If you are lucky, you may get free delivery from them.

Another worldwide store where you can get the game is this one, the regular retail box priced at U$59.95. What I can say from this second online store is that all my Collector’s Edition boxes of Guild Wars and Tabula Rasa came from them.

You decide. Study your options well and buy only from the one where you can get the game cheaper. And let’s hope the local prices will still drop or at least we get some discounts. ;)
