Rumours started on November 20, 2006 that Tantra Online Philippines (TOP) will switch to the Free-to-Play model from the current Pay-to-Play or “subscription-based” model. It all started in this forum post over at the official Tantra Online Philippine forums.

Visiting the official website at Tantra.ph, there is a countdown timer simply saying “Prepare Yourselves”, as of the time of this writing, it is down to 2 Days, 4 Hours, and 49 Minutes. That means the grand day will be this Friday, November 24, 2006. The countdown could only mean two things – first, the new patch of Tantra called “Mudha Dungeon” where dozen of new dungeon maps will be added together with new boss monsters and rare items, and characters will now be able to go beond level 99 and even reach the max level of 200. Or it could mean that the Free-to-Play switching will be on that day.
But it could be both, as rumours are, the two will be introduced on the same day. Anyway, ABS-CBN Interactive also said that they will put a permanent x10 Experience to all of the Tantra servers, and according to their press statement, Tantra will indeed switch to the Free-to-Play model.
