On April 28th I posted this microblog entry:

Guess what? StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty™ launch is on July 27th! Yep it is official and not another analytical-guess.

Follow up:
The wait is over. After more than a decade, we will finally know what happened after the events of StarCraft: Brood War. However, let us not forget that Wings of Liberty is (only) a long Terran campaign, the first installment. But who cares, right?!
There are plenty of things that you should expect in StarCraft II especially if you are in the Asean region where Internet Cafes (“iCafes”) is the common way/place of playing games – you will need a legitimate SC2 Key to play the game.
Read my initial review of StarCraft II Playing StarCraft II Beta: My Thoughts and Experience. But if you are lazy here’s a short rundown:
- There is no LAN option
- Single-Player and Multiplayer can only be accessed by logging-in to Battle.Net v2.0
- To get a BNet2 login for StarCraft II, you need a legitimate SC2 Key
- You can play SC2 in any PC with the game installed as long as you have a BNet2 SC2 login
In other words, [1] you better save money so you can buy your own StarCraft II Key; and [2] do not expect you will be able play SC2 on other networks like the (very) popular Garena (f. GG-Game) game network. Again, you need to login to Battle.Net v2.0 to access the Single-Player and Multiplayer options.
Think out-of-the-box and you will understand why they chose to go down this path. Of course it is also obvious the other reason is – business. Simple: the new LAN is Battle.Net v2.0. Live with it or don’t buy the game ![]()
