Ragnarok Online 2 Malaysia, NA, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand

You read that right, Gravity’s Ragnarok Online 2 is coming to Malaysia, North America, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand! The first English version of the game will first go online in Malaysia and Singapore to be published by AsiaSoft this December 2012. Then on the first half of 2013, Ragnarok Online fans can expect RO2 to come to the shores of North America and the Philippines.

Follow up:

Gravity first announced the English servers on their August 29th second quarter of 2012 financial report, herein quoted:

Singapore and Malaysia are expected to be the first overseas markets where Ragnarok Online II is to be released. The Company and AsiaSoft Online Pte. Ltd., the licensee of Ragnarok Online II in Singapore and Malaysia, have agreed to commercially offer the game in these markets in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Mr. Hyun Chul Park, CEO of Gravity said, “The performance of Ragnarok Online II in Korea is below our expectations. However, I believe that we have overcome most of the technical problems in the early stages and that we are ready to release the game in the overseas markets where the game is eagerly anticipated.”

The service language of Ragnarok Online II in Singapore and Malaysia will be English. The Company is also planning to launch the English version of the game in some other markets in the near future after localizing the content to tailor the game to local cultural preferences of each market.

How about Thailand? It’s “coming soon”, as revealed by the Thailand teaser site located at ro2.playpark.com, which is AsiaSoft Online’s official PlayPark website in the country. See the screenshot below:

Noticed the logo? It was the logo for Ragnarok Online II: The Gate of the World, the first iteration of RO2 which I’m sure everyone is very familiar with. That leaves us the most important question of all, is the RO2 the English market will get, The Gate of the World or the latest and better version, Legend of the Second? Or is that for Thailand only?

The answer is simple, there is only one (1) RO2 and that is Ragnarok Online II: Legend of the Second. RO2:TGotW was discontinued and no sane publisher will launch a game without developer support, and I highly doubt Gravity will distribute licenses for a shelved game. So fear not, we will be playing RO2:LotS, very soon!

Yes, very soon, because on December 7th at exactly eleven in the morning, AsiaSoft’s RO2 server will go live. You can download the client here: blockbuster.playpark.net/download.html and watch out for the official site launch at ro2.playpark.net (just my guess, considering there is an IP restriction error you will see as of this writing, meaning, only AsiaSoft’s IP addresses can access it).

If at this point you still do not believe it, the system requirements posted on AsiaSoft’s countdown website is exactly the same as the one that came from Gravity which we posted here on gameshogun before.

System Requirements

Minimum Recommended
CPU Pentium 4 2.0 GHz Intel® Dual Core 2.0 GHz
RAM 1 GB 2 GB
GFX Card GeForce FX 5600 with 256 MB RAM and Shader 2.0 GeForce FX 8600 with 512 MB RAM and Shader 2.0
HDD Space 5 GB 10 GB

It is no doubt Ragnarok Online II: Legend of the Second.

How about the North Americans? Obviously it will be Gravity North America. In the Philippines? Who else but Playweb Games/Level Up! These last two tidbits can of course change depending on the negotiations with the developer but that is unlikely.
