The nVIDIA® Gamers Conference was held on Saturday, the 19th of January at Max’s Restaurant Bel Air, Makati City. Philippine Country Representative Mr. Glenn Paul Serrano opened the conference with a short presentation on the latest technologies nVIDIA has developed recently, which were geared towards the gamers that always want more power from their GPUs.
Some of these are:
- nVIDIA’s TXAA or the Temporal Anti-aliasing
Film studios invest enormous resources in developing advanced technologies and post-production effects to deliver visually spectacular experiences for movie-goers. For games to achieve this level of fidelity, developers need new anti–aliasing technologies that deliver a viewing experience that eliminates the distraction of unrealistic, jagged lines (”jaggies”) and aliased shimmering–without compromising performance.
TXAA is a new film–style anti–aliasing technique designed specifically to reduce temporal aliasing (crawling and flickering in motion). This technology is a mix of a temporal filter, hardware anti–aliasing, and custom CG film–style anti–aliasing resolve. To filter any given pixel on the screen, TXAA uses a contribution of samples, both inside and outside of the pixel, in conjunction with samples from prior frames, to offer the highest quality filtering possible. TXAA has improved spatial filtering over standard 2xMSAA and 4xMSAA. For example, on fences or foliage and in motion, TXAA starts to approach and sometimes exceeds the quality of other high–end professional anti–aliasing algorithms. The higher–quality filtering used by TXAA results in softer images compared to the lower–quality filtering of traditional MSAA.
TXAA is only supported on NVIDIA® Kepler™ GPUs and will require a GTX 600–series graphics card to enable the feature in the graphics options. If you do not have the requirements to enable TXAA, the option will be hidden. TXAA is not properly observed with static screen shots, only with scenes in motion.

style=”font-size: 13pt;”>nVIDIA Philippines also announced that they are looking into sponsoring two gaming teams – one all-male and one all-female – for one (1) year. So if you manage a gaming team or a member of one, get your skills up and show it to the world to get noticed by nVIDIA.
There were also other speakers that presented their products and experience, Benj Dalmacio eSports Manager of Garena Philippines shared his life’s journey as a gamer and how today’s technologies, especially nVIDIA’s helped bring the best online games into reality. There was also Gino Paolo Cruz who showed us why nVIDIA is his brand of choice by running us down on the features that really matters and showed that only an nVIDIA GPU can deliver.
And there were also the partners of the company, from MSI’s fastest series yet the “Lightning”, to PALiT’s new GTX 660Ti JetStream line of GPUs.
Overall, the conference was great. I am happy that nVIDIA Philippines is meeting with professional gamers in the country, something we usually see in top countries only. By having a top brand behind supporting our teams, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if e-Sports in the country reaches the level it has in Korea and Europe.
