Philippine Social-Networking Services or SNS

We are all familiar with Social-Networking Services or SNS, if you don’t know what it is, then these are online services that provide a way for the public to find friends, relationship partners, activity partners, and connect to them, exchange thoughts, and discuss things. Different SNS offer different gimmicks and features, the most popular SNS in the world and is one of the pioneers in this ‘business’ (so-to-speak) is MySpace but in the Philippines, Friendster is still #1.

Follow up:

Social-Networking Services are not restricted to foreign or international people, there is a growing number of SNS that are popping out in different countries around the world, and we don’t have to look anywhere but our own country – the Philippines.

Here are some of the new and “still-alive” SNS made by Filipinos for the Filipinos.

Fwendz – https://www.fwendz.com
FwendZ is an online social community website that allows its members to properly organize their relationships with each other. Members can share photos, post journals and comments, describe their interests, and chat (there’s even a ShoutBox!) One feature I like with fwendz is the option to hide fields or to put restrictions to your profile on a ‘per (profile) field’ basis. This allows a member to keep, for example, his/her surname/family name in public view while his/her home address is for 1st degree friends only.

Groovenet – https://groovenet.ph (Bonus: Get a 3D-Virtual World Chat and Game – There!)
GrooveNet is an interactive online community for the Philippines featuring local artistas, DJs, musicians, models, singles, clubs, bars, groups, organizations and so much more. It is different from US-based (and US-developed) SNSes for it was made by Filipinos for Filipinos and caters more to give exposure to local artists, groups or businesses.

Kababayan – https://www.kababayan.ph
Kababayan is the site for Filipinos to help find other Filipino “countrymen”. Long lost friends, family, sweethearts, bosses, colleagues, even classmates. Launched on September 2006, Kababayan.ph wants to connect and reconnect Filipinos where they may be.

mobiuskids.net via GoPets – https://www.mobiuskids.net or https://gopets.ph
Digital Media Exchange, Inc. or more known as Mobius Online Games, is a South-East Asian Online Game Publisher located in the Philippines. mobiuskids.net is their newest portal dedicated for the kids in age and kids at heart (hopefully not kids at brain :p coz that’ll be different). mobiuskids service is currently available for the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam, with the launching of ToonTown Online South-East Asia this month – Disney’s MMORPG.
mobiuskids also offer their own SNS via an online pet game – GoPets. GoPets (I’m sure many are already familiar with it) is now part of the mobiuskids brand-name. Via GoPets, not only kids will enjoy, but also pet lovers and all Filipinos of different tastes and needs, as GoPets not only provide its own SNS, it is also connected to all the GoPets server around the world, thus allowing any Filipino to get in-touch with their loved ones abroad while having fun with their virtual pets.
You can visit mobiuskids.net or gopets.ph.

PRNster.com – https://www.prnster.com
PRNster is a Social-Network Service for Pinoy Registered Nurses and Students Center, hence “PRNster” (PRN also means “As needed” on medical terms). It is an online community site tailored with one-of-a-kind set of features to suit the needs of Filipino Nurses and Nursing students around the world. Developed by a group of Filipino nurses working in New York and New Jersey, USA.

FUNCHAIN – https://funchain.com
Funchain is an online community that will help you CONNECT to a network of friends. Funchain is also a free, online service that lets you create shareable BLOGS. A blog is your easy-to-use web site, where you can quickly post thoughts, interact with people, and more.
