The Dark Portal Opens Midnight January 16th!

Now what I don’t know with this one is which time-zone each WoW servers will follow, will the servers in EST follow the EST timezone, and those in the PST will follow PST? How about the Oceanic servers of WoW-NA? Will these servers follow the Oceanic timezone?

Of course no one wants to miss this grand “in-game” event and with that, everyone wants to make sure the timezone that will be followed. So far, based on past server events, this will follow the server’s time-zone. Read on for the timezone conversions…

  • If you live in Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, your timezone is UTC+8.
  • If you are live or connecting from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan your timezone is also UTC+8.
  • If you are connecting from Korea and Japan, your timezone is UTC+9.
  • If you are playing from Western Australia (like Perth), follow the UTC+9 table as DST is currently in effect in your area. Normally you’ll be following UTC+8.
  • If you are connecting from Sydney and Melbourne, your timezone is AEDT.
  • If you are in New Zealand, your timezone is NZDT.

The WoW-NA Oceanic or Australasia servers follow the AEDT timezone (Australian Eastern Daylight Time) which is 10 hours ahead of UTC plus 1 hour for the Daylight Savings Time or DST, which is currently in effect as it is still the Australian summer. If it DST is not in effect in the Eastern part of Australia, the WoW-NA Oceanic/Australasia servers are not as well.

  • Those who are playing from Western Australia like Perth, follow the time under UTC+9 since DST is also in effect in your Australian federal state (your non-DST or Australian Western Standard Time or AWST is UTC+8).
  • New Zealand is also observing DST currently, they are 12 hours ahead of UTC plus 1 hour for DST, so follow NZDT if you are in New Zealand.
