This video was made by a Japanese Ragnarok Online player. The idea is to show a true-to-life story of how matured gamers guide and teach newbies. This is a very good movie in the sense that many gamers, old and not-so-new alike will be able to relate and reminisce the good ol’ days. It also serves as a reminder to each of us to go look back and recognize the fact that people also helped us when we ourselves were newbies.

This is specially true if you’ve been an online gamer since the days of MUDs or Multi-User Dungeons. We help each other, we teach each new player, and we will go out of our way to teach you the game regardless of the possibility that one day you may become our enemy (PK-wise and Guild-wise).
Update: September 1, 2009
This is how you make friends… or more appropriately, this is how good virtual world relationships were formed. Today? I do not know. The “relationship” factor is not the same anymore. Guilds form because of this bond that players build and cultivate, but today it is all about raiding, getting the best gear, building the strongest and in-demand character, wreaking havoc in-game, and winning competitions.
As an online gamer since 1996 (yes it’s been that long), online gaming during the 1st and 2d generation, was all about camaraderie and fellowship. It was the Golden Years of Online Gaming where gamers play to escape from the real-world’s realities and harshness, and live in a virtual world to have fun and enjoyment.
There is one question for you today, are gamers still like what was shown above? Why or why not? Share your views below.
