I'm trying to figure out how Social Meter works:

http://halohalo.com received a score of 7 compared to http://globalpauhana.org of 8. Halohalo.com is just getting started, with almost 300 members, while Globalpauhana has been around for a while more with close to 5,000 members.

Very interesting concept though.

I think "how SocialMeter scores" hits is the part where SocialMeter should explain, but it works by searching for a URL in different Social-Bookmarking Services (SBS) like Digg, Delicious, FURL, Technorati and others.

Taking Digg as an example, if one of your readers put one of your article in Digg, that will be a "hit", gathering all these hits, SocialMeter then gives a corresponding score.

Personally, SocialMeter is more of how much a site is being 'bookmarked' and 'shared' via the SBS space, so it is still different when it comes to a site's 'PageRank'.
