This is very good news!

Especially for us in the Asia-Pacific region.

Loss of revenue != ROI. Plus, there is no loss of revenue as a direct result of being down for one night each week when subscriptions are monthly. If players were paying by the hour maybe... However, you're right about gamers playing their competitors products. Tuesday night for me is Guild Wars night :)

Ahh, thanks for the correction. I always mixed up revenue and ROI. ^^;

I think there is still loss of revenue during maintenance downtime even for montly subscriptions. One is, as we both agreed, their customers start to 'test' or play other games and eventually, there are those who forget about the maintenance of their 'main' game. Then these gamers may even end up moving to that other game.

Also, I see it in the Asian perspective, yes, hourly rate. I'm not saying WoW servers in Asia have hourly rates - I don't know, haven't checked. But as I've noticed, even if we are paying monthly for WoW, we get additional hours to a day for everytime they conduct an all-server downtime (or resets). When I noticed it, I got almost a day worth of gaming after my subscription expired. If they add those lost hours because of maintenance, then it is a lost for them, considering that we can not bring back time.

^_^

happy holidays!
