First time I saw my name on the frontpage of the Great Games Experiment, and I’m on the number 2 spot for the Top Gamers. Also, the game I submitted during the closed beta of GGE - the Sims, is also the Top Game, as shown on the screenshot above. Which is great! I contributed something to the gaming society in general.

Great Games Experiment

Now if you do not know what GGE is, it is a Social-Network Service for Gamers. Imagine a…

Lineage II - South-East Asia 1st Ever EVENT - The Glimpse's End

Lineage II - South-East Asia or simply L2-SEA is going to hold an event in less than 18 hours from now entitled “The Glimpse’s End". This will be L2-SEA’s first ever event since they started their Closed Beta Test (CBT).

It is interesting to note that veteran Lineage II players have been waiting for events like this one from their old servers, and now, the whole world has set their eyes on L2-SEA to witness not just the event, but the service of AsianMedia. But, so far so good for them, the GameMasters (GMs) and Customer Support (CS) are getting nothing but positive feedback. Some members of the L2-SEA Community were even amazed that they are already implementing their Game Policies during CBT (Game Policy implementation usually starts with Open Beta).

Here are the details of “The Glimpse’s End", the event that will mark the end of L2-SEA CBT, and will mark the beginning of a new world for all Lineage II fans in the Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia - Lineage II - South-East Asia, an Official and Legal Lineage II Server.

24,000+ files to download for Guild Wars: Eye of the North

And so, I started downloading the whole Guild Wars: Eye of the North (GW:EN) content at home.

I already saw the new content and the new map from my Guild Wars installation on my office workstation (dual-monitor!) and it looks great and far more exciting than the previous Guild Wars. I even said to my officemates that if ArenaNet can create a great game like GW:EN, they should’ve done it from the beginning. GW:EN login music alone is already great.

Can’t wait to get my GW:EN Pre-Release Bonus Pack delivered. ^_^

Philippine R.O.S.E. Online Will Go Offline on August

Permalink Posted by Shixi XIE Email @801 / 02:14pm (173 words, 2707 views) English (PH) utf-8
Category: Game Titles

Level-Up! Games announced that Philippine R.O.S.E. Online will go offline on August 6, 2007 exactly at 3:00pm.

We can keep on fighting but there is only so much we could do. And so, it is with deepest regret that we inform you that we will be shutting down operations for Philippine Rose Online on August 6, 2007, at precisely 3:00 PM.

Apparently, it started when Triggersoft stopped all development and support for ROSE Online. And keeping a game without any development and support from the developers is a daunting task. LU! decided it is time to put pROSE to rest. This is the hardest decision to make for any online gaming company, but the hardest of all is deciding which games to publish, knowing how long the developer is willing to develop and support the game.

With that, where will the players of pROSE go? There is Lineage II South-East Asia ( http://lineage2.ph or http://lineage2.com.sg or http://lineage2.com.my ) coming out this July which they can migrate to and conquer.

The Myth that is called the QoS 20% Bandwidth Gain

Permalink Posted by Shixi XIE Email @239 / 12:45am (770 words, 9146 views) English (PH) utf-8
Category: General, News, Gaming-General

The myth? “Increase your bandwidth by 20%” or “Regain 20% of your bandwidth” and anything similar. What is the usual content of this myth?

Windows uses 20% of your bandwidth! Get it back

A nice little tweak for XP Pro. Mcft reserve 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes (suspect for updates and interrogating your machine etc..)

Here’s how to get it back:
Click Start–>Run–>type “gpedit.msc” without the “
This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:
Local Computer Policy–>Computer Configuration–>Administrative Templates–>Network–>QOS Packet Scheduler–>Limit Reservable Bandwidth
Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the ‘Explain’ tab :

“By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default.”

So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.
works on XP Pro, and 2000
other o/s not tested.

Why is it a myth? Here are the hard facts:
